Seo Ji-seok (Hangul: 서지석; or spelled Suh Ji-suk; born 9 September 1981) is a South Korean actor. He is well known for his role Park Yoon-hoo in KBS 1TV 167-episode daily drama Pure in Heart, aka Pure 19, broadcast from 22 May 2006 to 12 January 2007.

Early life

In middle school, he was an athlete specialized in 100m-200m short-distant running. He won four gold medals in a variety of sports when he was 16 years old and was selected to prepare for the national team. In 1999, he was hit by a vehicle while he was crossing the street. He was hospitalized for 6 months for medical treatments. Then, he was talent spotted on the street as the manager liked his refined appearance. Hence choose acting as his career.[1]

Career

Seo appeared in two films directed by the renowned South Korean movie director Kim Ki Duk. In the first one The Bow, he played a college student involved in a mysterious and dangerous relationship between an old man and a 16-year old girl. The old man kidnapped the girl 10 years ago when she was 6 years old. He appeared in the second movie Time as a guest star. He also participated in the movie May I Cry? in 2006.

Seo enlisted for his mandatory military service on 5/29/2007. He reported to the Chuncheon 102 Supplement Unit of the Republic of Korea Army. After 5 weeks basic training, he was assigned to the 12th Infantry Division located in Inje, Gangwon-do.[2][3] He was discharged on 5/3/2009, and then had a fan meeting on 5/10/2009.[4]

From October to November, 2009, he films for an independent film The Inside Story of Him and Her.

From 2/3/2010, he and Jang Suh Hee play the lead roles in SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama OB & GYN.[5]

From 7/31/2010, he, Bae Doo Na, Soh Yi Hyun, and Lee Chun Hee lead the MBC Weekend drama Gloria.[6]

From 8/22/2010, for 6 months, he is one of 7 MCs on MBC Sunday Night - Enjoy Today television variety programme.[7]

From 4/13/2011, he plays the lead role in the cable channel TvN 16-episode romantic-comedy drama Manny on Wednesdays and Thursdays.[8]

From 5/22/2011, he performs in the SBS "Good Sundy – Kim Yuna’s KISS&CRY (일요일이 좋다-김연아의 키스 앤 크라이)" variety program.

From 9/19/2011, he performs in the MBC 123-episode romantic-comical daily sitcom Highkick 3, Short Leg Counter-Attack .[9]

From 10/13/2012, he, musician Kim Wi Yong (김의용)(as the composers), actress Lee Chung Ah (as the lyrics writer), and singer Heo Young Saeng (as the song singer) participate in the 3-episode "MBC Music" cable TV variety program "Song and Lyrics 2 (그여자 작사 그남자 작곡 시즌2)" to collaborate on an Original Sound Track "Gazing (바라본다)" for MBC's weekend drama "Sons".[10]

In 6/2013, he and Hong Soo Ah are chosen to lead the movie "Mango Tree (망고트리)" which is scheduled to be debuted in October, 2013.

From 9/28/2013, he performs in the MBC 50-episode weekend drama "Give Love Away (사랑해서 남주나)".[11]

From 10/22/2013, he performs in the KBS2 variety program "Cool Kiz on the Block (우리동네 예체능)".[12]

Personal life

On May 18, 2013, his wedding was held at Seoul. His bride is a 28–year-old florist. Their honeymoon location is at Bali, and their newly-wed home is near the Gangnam district.[13]
