Selma is an unincorporated community in Josephine County, Oregon, United States.[1] It had a population of 1,934 as of 2000. It is located in the ZIP code of 97538.[2]
Notable residents
Actor John Wayne used to visit a ranch that is one mile west of Selma that is now called "The Deer Creek Center for Field Research and Education". It used to just be called "The Deer Creek Ranch". A friend of his used to own the ranch, and John Wayne used to keep some of his horses there. He grew fond of the area after filming Rooster Cogburn along the Rogue River.[3] Also from Selma, Oregon is Kristy Lee Cook, who came in 7th place on American Idol season 7.[4]
