This is a Chinese name; the family name is Teo.

Sebastian Teo Kway Huang (simplified Chinese: 张培源; traditional Chinese: 張培源; pinyin: Zhāng Péiyuán) is a Singaporean politician and the current President^[1] of the National Solidarity Party (NSP).

Political career

2001 general election

Teo first stepped into the political arena in the 2001 general election, contesting as one of five members representing the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) together with Yip Yew Weng, Christopher Neo, Foo Kok Wah and Abdul Rahim bin Osman in Tampines GRC against the team from the People's Action Party (PAP) represented by Mah Bow Tan, Yatiman bin Yusof, Ong Kian Min, Sin Boon Ann and Irene Ng. They lost, receiving only 26.7% of the votes.

2006 general election

In the 2006 general election, Teo contested under the SDA banner in the Jalan Besar GRC together with Fong Chin Leong, Cheo Chai Chen, Vincent Yeo and Muhamad Ali bin Aman against another team from the PAP composed of Lee Boon Yang, Yaacob Ibrahim, Heng Chee How, Lily Neo and Denise Phua. His SDA team lost again, obtaining just 30.7% of the votes against the PAP team.

2011 general election

In the 2011 general election, Teo contested a third time representing the National Solidarity Party (NSP) together with Tony Tan Lay Thiam, Hazel Poa, Nor Lella Mardiiiah Mohamed and Jeisilan Sivalingam in Chua Chu Kang GRC against a PAP team led by Gan Kim Yong, Alvin Yeo, Zaqy Mohamad, Alex Yam and Low Yen Ling. The NSP team lost but obtained a credible 38.8% of the votes despite fielding four rookie candidates.

Teo failed to make it to Parliament in all his three attempts but managed to improve his percentage of votes in every election. He is currently the President of the National Solidarity Party which has grown to become the third largest political party in Singapore.
