Se'i or sei is a typical bacon from Kupang, Timor, East Nusa Tenggara. Fumigation by using a mixture of milk, salt and spices provide a unique taste unlike any bacon. This dish is easily found in restaurants and warung in Timor. Se'i usually made from pork or beef. In Kupang, people served se'i with sambal lu'at and jagung bose. The name of Se'i is coming from the local language that mean "smoked meat".[1]

History

This dish is served by most hereditary in East Nusa Tenggara province, the food is actually made from Timorese deer (Cervus timorensis). But, since Timorese deer became extinct now, beef and pork became the main ingredients of Se'i.[2]
