"Scream" (stylized as "SCREAM") is the 38th Japanese single by South Korean pop duo Tohoshinki. Written and produced by Hitchhiker, the single was released on September 4, 2013 by Avex Trax as the second single from their seventh Japanese studio album, Tree (2014). The single was released in three versions – a CD+DVD version, a CD-only version, and a Bigeast Board edition. The B-side track "Disvelocity" is written by Anders Grahn and Emil Carlin. H.U.B. wrote the lyrics to both songs.
The song first first presented in July 2013, serving as the theme song for the Japanese horror film, Sadako 3D 2.[1] According to the Oricon, "Scream" came in fifth place on Oricon's annual ranking for movie tie-in singles. In August 2013, Tohoshinki debuted their performance of "Scream" at the Nissan Stadium stop for their Time Tour.
"Scream" debuted at number two on the Oricon Singles Chart and peaked at number two on Billboard's Japan Hot 100.[2] Within a week of its release, the single was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for shipments of over 100,000.[3] Charting for three months, "Scream" had reported sales of 145,628 by December 2013.
