Scopely

Scopely is a mobile entertainment network that was founded in 2011[1] and is based in Los Angeles.[2] Through its developer program,[3] Scopely works with independent gaming studios to co-develop multiplayer games that leverage its platform for technology, distribution, marketing and monetization.[4][5]

History

Scopely was founded in 2011 by social gaming entrepreneur, Walter Driver; former Applied Semantics co-founder, Eytan Elbaz; former lead software developer on MySpace's Developer Platform, Ankur Bulsara; and startup veteran, Eric Futoran.

In 2012, games industry veteran Travis Chen joined as Chief Game Designer.[6]

In 2013, Scopely brought in Andy Kleinman as Chief Business Officer,[7] Darion Lowenstein as Vice President of game development,[8] Reed Shaffner as VP of Product,[9] and Michail Katkoff, Former Angry Birds and Clash of Clans partnership lead.[10]

Funding

Scopely’s funding[11] totals $8.5 million. Scopely’s investors include: New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Anthem Venture Partners, The Chernin Group, Felicis Ventures, Greycroft Partners, former Yahoo CEO Terry Semel, TechStars CEO David Cohen, Factual CEO Gil Elbaz, Buddy Media CEO Michael Lazerow, ShoeDazzle CEO Brian Lee, Burstly CEO Evan Rifkin, LiveRamp CEO Auren Hoffman, Demand Media President Michael Blend and former Techstars NY Managing Director David Tisch along with numerous other angel investors.[12]
