Scar the Martyr is an American heavy metal band consisting of Henry Derek, Joey Jordison, Kris Norris, Jed Simon, Kyle Konkiel and Joey Blush.

History

The band was formed in 2013 as a side project for former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison. The group was announced in April 2013 by Jordison and was shown to feature former Strapping Young Lad guitarist Jed Simon and former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris.[1] In June 2013 the group announced its name and full lineup, which included former Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna on keyboards, who only stayed in the band as a session member for the bands début album,[2] and relatively unknown vocalist Henry Derek Bonner.[3] Their first album was released on October 1, 2013.[4]

On the 19th of September 2013 A free online only EP was released for download exclusively through Revolver Magazine's website requiring a password that can be found on Roadrunner Record's website. The EP contained 4 tracks 2 of which were the album tracks "Blood Host" and "Soul Disintegration". The other 2 were exclusive to the EP and not available anywhere else entitled "After The Fall" and "Trinity Of Lies".[5]

Prior to Jordison leaving Slipknot, this was considered a side project, however after he left Slipknot, he stated that his primary focus is now Scar the Martyr, effectively making it his primary project.[6] During touring, bassist Kyle Kokiel (formerly of In This Moment) and keyboardist Joey Blush (from Blush Response) joined the band as permanent members.[7]
