Sayed Safi Haidar

Syed Safi Haidar is a Shia Muslim cleric from India. He is the secretary of Tanzeemul Makatib, an organization with educational units across India.[1] He was born in Jargaon, Barabanki district.

Career

He has given religious sermons and lectures in Majlises gathering to commomerate the Battle of Karbala.[citation needed] In 1996 he addressed a Majlis in Karari, Allahabad on occasion of the Chehlum of Sayed Ghulam Hasnain Rizvi.[2][3]

He has praised the activities of the World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities, saying: "It is wonderful and inspiring to see the WF run by youths, inshAllah this will continue for years to come."[4]

He assisted in the opening of a new polyclinic in Lucknow, India where there was a need for all medical services under a single roof. On 14 June 2009 the polyclinic opened with the name of Zainabiya Health Center to provide better health services to the local community.[5]

In February 2005 he was detained at a US airport and was questioned for several hours.[6] Later he was deported.
