Satyam Sankaramanchi (3 March 1937 – 1987) is a storyteller who was born in the tiny village of Amaravati near Guntur City, in Andhra Pradesh, India. He started telling all of his stories by weaving a whole new world around this tiny village Amaravati. His style is very similar to that of the Russian writer Anton Chekhov.[citation needed]
Amaravati Kathalu is regarded by Mullapudi and other great writers as one of the best short story series in Telugu.
It has also been televised by the movie maker Shyam Benegal.
