Satish Sikha (born 12 August 1971) is an Indian born Canadian Citizen who is a fashion designer particularly noted for his Haute Couture designs In the year 2007, he left fashion designing and started a campaign against Global Warming. He is the founder of Healthy Kids Happy Kids Foundation,[1][2][3] a nonprofit NGO based in Hyderabad, India.
Eco-friendly Silk Cloth
Mr Sikha started his campaign against global warming in 2007. He started collecting messages of support for the environment on an eco-friendly silk cloth (one yard for each message) from several dignitaries and celebrities. The silk cloth finally became 1.2 kilometers long with messages from approximately 1,263 people which included politicians, film personalities, professors, artists, scientists, musicians, and media personnel.[4] The celebrities who supported his cause include Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan, Indian film actress Kangna Ranaut,[5] Indian cricket player Kapil Dev, former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, Indian politician N. Chandrababu Naidu, Indian businessman Ramoji Rao, Indian ad maker Alyque Padamsee and many others.[6] He also showcased the fabric on the North Pole.[7]
Healthy Kids Happy Kids
Healthy Kids Happy Kids Foundation is a not-for-profit NGO Founded by Mr. Sikha to support underprivileged children across India. Foundation provides every day free food, free clothing, free education and free medical treatment to children in need. On its inception, Miss World Canada Denise Garrido, Miss Universe Bolivia Claudia Arce, Miss Universe Sweden Renate Cerljen, Miss Mongolia Gantogoo Bayarkhuu and Miss Iceland Fanney Ingvarsdóttir along with Femina Miss India Parvathy Omanakuttan, came to a village named Samasthan Narayanpur where they distributed wheelchairs and walkers to fluorine infected physically handicapped people in the village.[3]
