Sathyan Mahalingam, simply known and credited as Sathyan is an Indian playback singer and composer,[1] best known for performing the hit numbers "Kalakkapovathu Yaaru" (Vasool Raja MBBS), "Sil Sil" (Arinthum Ariyamalum) and the title track from Boss Engira Bhaskaran.[2]

Early life

Satyan was also called Needhi Mohan during his schooling and College but recently he had changed his name to M. Satyan. Satyan was born for Mr. Mahalingam & Mrs. Mariammal on 31 May 1980, in Chennai.

Career

Light music

Satyan has been singing in numerous light music orchestras since 1996 and has performed for many of the leading orchestras in Tamil Nadu. He has also performed more than 2500 stage shows in his singing career as a light music singer.

Playback singing

Satyan entered Tamil Film Industry in the year 2004, introduced by the popular Music Director Mr. Baradwaj in the film "Vasool Raja MBBS" and "Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru" with Padmasree Mr. Kamalhaasan and thus started his career as a play back singer.

Performances

Satyan has performed for several star shows in various countries viz. CANADA, USA, MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE, DUBAI, SRILANKA, LONDON, PARIS & throughout INDIA.

Composer

Satyan has been into music direction since 2008 and have composed and programmed more than 90 Jingles and some songs in couple of Music albums for Shakthi FM, Sri Lanka. He has composed one devotional song for Nallur Murugan Temple (Sri Lanka) sung by the great legends Mr. T.M. Soundararajan and Mrs. P. Suseela, followed by an ALLAH song sung by Mr. Mano, recently composed a song for Thiruketheeswaram Temple in Mannar (Sri Lanka) which was sung by Dr. S.P. Balasubramaniam and also composed a Murugan song for Kathirgamam Murugan Temple which was sung by Mr. T.l. Maharajan & Mr. Seergazhi Siva Chidambaram. Another Devine song for Mayuraapathi BADRAKALI which sung by the Legendary singer Mrs. VAANI JAYARAM. Then another devotional song for Nayina Theevu Naagabooshini Amman Temple which was sung by Ms. L.R.Eashwari. These songs are produced by SHAKTHI FM (Sri Lanka). He has composed music for a 30 minutes short film "En Uyir Thozan" directed by Mr. Surya (son of the famous writer Mr. Balakumaran) and a 1 hour television film "Fair & Luvly" by the same director. Sathyan has composed a re-recording for a television film directed by Mr. Sharavana Subbiah
