Saponara (Sicilian: Sapunara) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 180 km east of Palermo and about 10 km west of Messina. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,040 and an area of 26.0 km².[1]
Saponara borders the following municipalities: Messina, Rometta, Villafranca Tirrena.
