Sanuki (さぬき市, Sanuki-shi) is a city located in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan.

As of March 31, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 53,865, with 20,237 households and a population density of 339.01 persons per km². The total area is 158.81 km² (61.32 sq mi).

The modern city of Sanuki was founded on April 1, 2002 and is the merger of five towns from the western part of the former Ōkawa District: Shido, Tsuda, Nagao, Sangawa and Ōkawa.^[1][2]

Ōkubo-ji, the 88th and final temple of the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage is within the city, also famous for Shido-ji and Nagao-ji. Nagao-ji holds Shamisen-mochitsuki, a yearly new-years event on January 2. ^{[citation needed]}
