Santana de Parnaíba

Coordinates: 23°26′38″S 46°55′04″W / 23.44389°S 46.91778°W Santana de Parnaíba is a state and municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population in 2003 was 86,247 and the area is 184 km². It was founded in 1625 near the Tietê river.
The latter part of its name is a native Indian word. 'Parnaíba' means rocky river.
It was founded by Susana Dias, an important Bandeirante (Brazilian pioneers) wife.
