Santa Rosa CityBus is a public transportation agency providing bus service in the northern California city of Santa Rosa. It provides service for over 2.8 million passenger trips annually.^[1]

Routes

A total of 18 routes are operated by Santa Rosa CityBus, most of them operating in loops (usually in a clockwise direction). Note that streets and areas indicated in italics means that the area is served by a one-way loop, not a return service.

Note: Routes 1 (Mendocino Avenue) and 15 (Stony Point Road) do not operate on Sundays.

Schedules and Operating Hours

Note: all schedules and hours listed below current as of 6 October 2013.

Weekdays: departures from 6:00am to 7:45pm

• Routes 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 19: every 30 minutes
• Route 6: every 45 minutes
• Routes 2, 4, 7, 15, 17, 18: hourly

Saturdays: departures from 7:00am to 7:00pm

• Route 9: every 30 minutes
• Routes 4 & 7: every 2 hours
• All others: hourly
• Route 18 has no service 12:50pm until 1:50pm; the last Route 18 departs at 3:50pm.

Sundays: departures from 9:25am to 4:45pm

• Routes 1 & 15: no service
• Routes 4 & 7: every 2 hours
• All others: hourly
• Route 18 has no service 12:50pm until 1:50pm; the last Route 18 departs at 3:50pm.

Transit Mall and Transfer Centers

Santa Rosa Transit Mall

The downtown Transit Mall, a segment of Second Street between Santa Rosa Avenue and B Street, is the main transfer point for several bus agencies, including Sonoma County Transit, Golden Gate Transit,^[5] and Mendocino Transit Authority, and most CityBus routes begin and end their trips there.

In May 2000, the city opened the Westside Transfer Center as an additional transfer point,^[6] where Routes 3, 6, and 15 make stops. There are also several transfer centers within the city, including:

• Northside Transfer Center - at Range Avenue & Steele Lane, near Coddingtown Mall. Transfer point for Routes 10, 11, 15, and 17
• Eastside Transfer Center - at Sonoma Avenue & Farmers Lane, across Montgomery Village. Transfer point for Routes 2, 4, 7, 8, and 18
• Southside Transfer Center - at Hearn Avenue & Burbank Avenue, near Roseland. Transfer point for Routes 12, 15, and 19

In 2008, a number of hybrid electric buses were added to the fleet.^[7]

Fares and Transfers

Fares

Fares for the Santa Rosa CityBus,^[8] including its descriptions, are:

• Adults: $1.50
  • Anyone between 19 and 64 years old

• Half Fare: $0.75 - to be qualified, present either:
  • A valid Medicare Card
  • A proof of age: 65 years and older
  • A valid DMV ID Card or Placard
  • A valid Regional Transit Discount Card (must be shown at time of payment)

• Youth: $1.25
  • Anyone between 5 and 18 years old

• Children: Free
  • 4 years old and younger; must be accompanied by an adult. Up to 3 children may accompany an adult free.

Transfers

Transfers are only issued when a fare is paid; they are valid for two hours.

• Transferring from Santa Rosa CityBus to:
  • Another Santa Rosa CityBus route are issued only when a fare is paid and are valid for 90 minutes and/or two transfers after the time of issue
  • Sonoma County Transit - first (boarding) zone credit
  • Napa VINE - transfer discount
  • Golden Gate Transit - riders receive a $1.00 fare credit for adults ($0.50 for youth, seniors, and persons with disabilities) for continuing travel on GGT. Surrender the transfer to the bus operator to receive the appropriate credit

• Transferring to Santa Rosa CityBus from:
  • Golden Gate Transit - riders receive a $1.25 adult fare credit ($0.60 youth/senior/disabled) for continuing travel, and it is only valid at points where CityBus and GGT routes intersect (e.g. Santa Rosa Transit Mall); a Santa Rosa CityBus transfer will be issued on request.^[9]
  • Other agencies - passengers holding valid transfers from all agencies mentioned above may ride any Santa Rosa CityBus for free. A Santa Rosa CityBus transfer will be issued on request.

CityPass and CityPass Ticket Books

The CityPass is a convenient monthly pass that eliminates the need to carry exact change for bus fare, and it can save money since it is good for unlimited rides during the calendar month. Fares for the CityPass are:

• Adult - $50.00
• Half - $25.00
• Youth* - $25.00 ($15.00 June and July) (* - Subsidized through TFCA grant)

In addition, students of Santa Rosa Junior College may purchase subsidized monthly passes from the on-campus bookstore for $16.00. A student ID with a sticker validating current enrollment is required.

The CityPass Ticket Books, on the other hand, eliminates the need to carry exact change for bus fare, never expire, and are great for occasional CityBus riders. Fares for the CityPass Ticket Books are:

• Adult (sold in 50 tickets) - $60.00
• Half (sold in 40 tickets) - $22.00
• Youth (sold in 40 tickets) - $38.00

Both the CityPass and CityPass Ticket Books can be purchased at any of the following locations: City of Santa Rosa City Hall Room 6, mail order envelopes on its buses, Santa Rosa middle schools and high schools, G & G Market, Safeway stores, Oliver's Market on Stony Point Road and online.

24 Hour Day Pass

The new 24-hour CityBus Day Pass is a great value for anyone who would need to pay more than two fares within any 24-hour period, making it perfect for someone who wants to run multiple errands without the constraints (time and usage) of a regular transfer.

• Adult - $4
• Half - $2
• Youth - $3

Paratransit

Santa Rosa Paratransit, the paratransit arm of Santa Rosa CityBus and the city of Santa Rosa, provides dial-a-ride (i.e. curb to curb) transportation services within the Santa Rosa city limits and the unincorporated Roseland area.^[10] Eligibility requirements require the passenger's disability prevents him/her from using fixed route transit (Santa Rosa CityBus or other transit systems). MV Transportation is the contractor of all paratransit services in Santa Rosa.

One of CityBus' routes, Route 16 (Oakmont Shuttles), picks up Oakmont residents who are ADA Paratransit Certified at their homes for free to take them to and from the activities they enjoy within Oakmont. It also lets residents to get a ride home for free as well. And they can go along on the daily shopping trips to:

• Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - St. Francis Center (Safeway)
• Tuesdays - Montgomery Village
• Wednesdays - Montecito Shopping Center (Oliver’s Market)
• Thursdays - CVS Pharmacy (Farmer’s Lane)

It works as the Route 16 bus that serves Oakmont. However, as the bus travels along its regular route, it simply makes small detours to pick up ADA Paratransit Certified Oakmont residents at their homes, and then return to the regular route.

Reservations are accepted up to seven (7) days in advance or between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. on the same day as the ride. Reservations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
