Santa Clara Aqueduct.

Aqueduct of Santa Clara is an aqueduct in Portugal located between Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde. It is the second largest aqueduct in Portugal. It was built between 1626 and 1714 and has 999 arches stretching for 4 km from the spring of Terroso in Póvoa de Varzim to the convent of Santa Clara in Vila do Conde.

It is a national monument since 1910. Despite its legal protection, several arches fell as recently as December 2009 and the destroyed arches were not recovered. This problem mostly affects the area of the monument located in Póvoa de Varzim, due to lack of maintenance, a responsibility of the national government.[1]
