Sankheda in Chhota Udepur District is known for its wooden lacquer works. The work is done on country wood, which being brown gives darker shades.It is known for its handicraft furniture. The furniture made from Teak wood. The furniture made here is exported all over the world.

It is located on the bank of the River Orsang and uchh River .Development of this town comes from huge contribution by Dr.Jethalal K Parikh,who worked really hard to give good education and employment to local community.There are schools and hospital named under his wife.Local community to appreciate his efforts for development of town, they named a road after his name and has his statue at entrance of town.

The Highschool is named after D.B. Parekh who gave the donation to build it in a time where the town was very poor. D.B. Parekh Highschool is still where the kids of Sankheda attend

ITI

In the Budget Speech 2007-08 Union Finance Minister announced a scheme for upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs into centres of excellence in specific trades and skills through Public Private Partnership. In pursuance of this announcement wide/ranging discussions were held with State Governments, Industry Associations and other stakeholders and a Scheme named “Upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs through Public Private Partnership” was formulated.

The Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs (CCEA) of the Union Cabinet in its meeting held on 25.10.2007 has approved this Scheme ‘in principle’ for the XI Five Year Plan period and has given financial approval for one year for upgradation of the first batch of 300 ITIs at a cost of Rs. 774.5 cr. I.T.I. Dharampur Dist.:-Valsad is among ITI's in the country which has been selected by DGE&T(Directorate General of Employment & Training), Ministry of Labour & Employment.

Sankheda is located 55 km away from Vadodara. The neighboring towns are Dabhoi (21 km),Bodeli (21 km) and Waghodia (27 km).
