Sanguem ([saːŋɡɛ̃]) is a city and a municipal council in South Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. Notable landmarks include the Sagameshwar Temple, Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park and the Salaulim Dam.
Geography
Sanguem is located at 15°14′N 74°10′E / 15.23°N 74.17°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 22 metres (72 feet).
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Sanguem had a population of 6158. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Sanguem has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 69%. In Sanguem, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Konkani and Kannada are the main language spoken here.
