Sandy Gore (born 28 June 1950) is an Australian actress, renowned for her work in theatre. Gore has worked extensively for Sydney Theatre Company and Melbourne Theatre Company. On television, she appeared in the hit series Prisoner as Kay White, the payroll-embezzling accountant at Andrew Reynold's factory who met a sticky end when her gambling addiction gets the better of her. Also she has starred in the mini-series Brides of Christ[1] and had guest roles in TV series such as Grass Roots and Farscape.
She also appeared as Anja in Paws and as a guest role in Rafferty's Rules.
Recently, she has had a prominent role in the epic film Australia[2] playing Gloria Carney, King Carney's (Bryan Brown) wife and was also in Lorenzo's Oil.[3]
She also has been selected to do voice-overs, e.g., in a programme dubbed into English by SBS about Fado.
She is also a regular stage actress, including an acclaimed performance in the play Wit.[4] Recently Sandy has acted in 'The taming of the shrew' by Bell Shakespeare, playing the role of Baptista. Touring around Australia with the rest of the cast and crew, Sandy has gained much praise for her impeccable acting skills.[citation needed] In 2010 she was cast as Maria in Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, alongside Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh.
