Sandra Crouch is an American Gospel music performer, drummer and songwriter.

Musical career

She won a Grammy Award in 1985 for "Best Soul Gospel Performance, Female". During the late 1960s through the early 1970s, she played tambourine on a number of Motown recording sessions. Her most memorable accomplishment was sing the lead in gospel mega-hit "Maybe God is Tryin' to Tell You Somethin'", written by Quincy Jones, her brother Andraé Crouch and Bill Maxwell. The song was part of the soundtrack, "The Color Purple". She "sang" the song as the character Shug Avery, but Táta Vega actually sang the song.

Personal life

Born on July 1, 1942 in San Francisco, California with her twin brother Andraé, she is a co-pastor (along with her brother) at the Christ Memorial Church in Pacoima, California.
