Sandesh Jhingan (born 21 July 1993) is an Indian footballer who currently plays as a central defender for Mumbai F.C. in the I-League on loan from IMG-Reliance, the organizers of the proposed Indian Super League, which is expected to start in September 2014.[1]
Career
United Sikkim
Born in Chandigarh, Jhingan started his footballing career with United Sikkim while they were in the I-League 2nd Division[2] and was part of the squad that won the club promotion to the I-League in 2012. Jhingan made his official professional debut for United Sikkim against Pune F.C. on 20 September 2012 during the 2012 Indian Federation Cup in which United Sikkim lost 0–1 to the Maharashtra based side.[3]
After the club were relegated following the 2012–13 I-League season, Jhingan left the club.[1] After leaving the club, Jhingan signed a contract with IMG-Reliance to play in their new franchise football league known as the Indian Super League.[1] He found the concept of the league interesting and thus why he signed on for the tournament.[1] Then, later during the summer, Jhingan was offered a deal by Dempo S.C. of the I-League but Jhingan rejected the offer.[1]
Rangdajied United
On 12 November 2013 it was confirmed that Jhingan, along with four other players, had signed with Rangdajied United F.C. in the I-League on loan from IMG-Reliance for the remainder of the season.[4] He didn’t even make it to the match squad in any of Rangdajied’s I-League matches after joining them on loan from IMG-Reliance.
Mumbai
On 5 December 2013 it was announced that Jhingan has signed for Mumbai F.C. on loan from IMG RELIANCE for the 2013-14 season.[5] He made his debut on 7 December 2013 against Pune F.C. at the Balewadi Sports Complex in which he played the whole match as Mumbai won the match 1-2.[6]
