Sand, Rogaland

Sand is a village and former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway.
The municipality was created by a split from Jelsa in 1859. At that time Sand had 1,600 inhabitants.
On 1 January 1965 Sand was incorporated into the neighboring municipality Suldal. Prior to the merger Sand had 1,135 inhabitants.[1]
The village Sand has a population of 1,157.[2] It is the administrative centre of Suldal municipality.
