Jung San (born on (1985-01-23)January 23, 1985) commonly known by his stage name, San E, is a hip hop rapper who had been performing underground before being contracted under JYP Entertainment (JYP) in September 2010. He is now contracted under Brand New Music as of June 2013.[2]

Biography

San E was born on January 23, 1985. He immigrated to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, when he was a middle school student.[3] He is currently attending University of Georgia (UGA).

Career

2010 : Debut

Before his debut, he was an underground rapper renowned for his rapping skills. He even won the grand award for best rap and hip hop songs and was dubbed as a ‘rap prodigy’ that March at the 7th Public Korean Music Awards. Afterwards, he decided to join JYP. He was the first hip hop solo rapper from JYP.[4] On September 6, 2010 JYP released a teaser of San E.[5] On September 10, 2010 San E released a tracklist of his 1st Mini Album, Everybody ready?. There are various JYP artists who are featured in the album, including 2PM's Junsu, Min (of Miss A), Joo and Yenny (of Wonder Girls). On September 16, 2010 he debuted on M! Countdown with his debut single 'Tasty San', featuring Min.[6] On November 2, 2010, San E made a comeback with a Music Video starring Sohee (of Wonder Girls), called 'LoveSick'.[7] He also took part in JYP Nation's music video "This Christmas".[8]

2011 : Charity Song, Comeback

On April 6, 2011 he collaborated with Nuol, Verbal Jint, L.E.O, Dead P, Beenzino, Swings, Baby Bu, Dawn and designer Brownbreath for project "Stand Up, Japan!".[9] All profits made from the digital single were donated to aid in Japan’s relief efforts. JYP's quirky and talented rapper, San E, was also scheduled to make his return to the music industry on April 26.[10] On April 26, rapper San-E released his new comeback song, “Please Don’t Go“. For this track, San-E collaborated with rapper Outsider, who recently enlisted in the army, and Lee Changmin (of 2AM).[11] On April 29, 2011 he released a Music Video for his comeback song in his Official YouTube.[12] On November 23, 2011 he released a new single called, "I Want You To Be Unhappy".[13]

2013 : Leaving JYP

In late April, San E ended his contract with JYP. In early August, he released "Story of Someone I Know" with the music videos starring Nara (of Hello Venus). The song hit no.1 on real time music charts, such as Melon, and gained support from fans and former label mates from JYP.
