History

Samsung Apps was first introduced as a shop-in-shop on Omnia devices on 14 September 2009. By integrating with S Suggest, Samsung Apps is able to recommend apps from both Samsung Apps and Google Play.

Paid Content

Paid content became available on 14 September 2009.

Revenue

70% of the proceeds from purchases of applications, after deduction of VAT and all transaction fees (more than 90% for some payment methods), are forwarded to the corresponding developer, with a variable delay (up to 6 months for some payment methods). The remaining 30% of the proceeds are then distributed amongst the involved businesses and Samsung Apps.

Security

Unlike some other Android application markets, Samsung Apps validates all third-party applications for malware and harmful content before making them available for download or purchase through the store. This validation process includes verification of installation permissions, making it safer for users to download and install applications from Samsung Apps.
