Sam Lowes (born 14 September 1990) is an English motorcycle racer from Lincoln, Lincolnshire currently competing in the Supersport World Championship riding a Yamaha YZF-R6[1] for Russian team Yakhnich Motorsport in the championship, he was the 2010 British Supersport champion riding a Honda CBR600RR, during his championship year in the British championship he scored 5 wins, including three consecutive wins and three pole positions, he won in Brands Hatch, Knockhill, Cadwell Park, Croft and Silverstone and other 5 podium finishes, after this championship year he moved to the Supersport World Championship in 2011 signing for the Parkalgar Honda team,[2] in his debut year he scored 6 podiums finishes, finishing 6th with 129 points, in 2012 he moved to the Bogdanka PTR Honda,[3] a sister team of the Parkalgar team he was successful in this year scoring 2 wins in Donington Park and Aragón rounds and scoring three podium finishes finishing 3rd in the year, and 2013 he decided to move to Yakhnich Motorsport[4] riding a semi-works Yamaha, he has scored 6 wins and 9 pole positions and he is leading the championship with 250 points. He is the twin brother of British Superbike rider Alex Lowes.
He claimed the World Supersport championship with one round remaining in Magny-Cours, finishing 2nd[5] He was scheluded to race in the World Superbike Championship in 2014 with Yakhnich, however, these plans fell out as the team decided to jump to the championship without Yamaha, after this he opted to join the Moto2 World Championship riding with the Speed Up team[6] He signed a deal of two years with the team.
