Salsig, California

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Salsig (also, Manzanita) is a former settlement in Mendocino County, California.[1] It was located at the terminus of stage coach line and later on the railroad 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Elk.[1]

The Salsig post office opened in 1904, changed its name to Manzanita in 1912, and closed in 1915.[1] The name honored Edgar Budd Salsig, whose lumber company had mills nearby.[1]
