Saleh Gomaa (born August 1, 1993) is an Egyptian professional footballer who plays for Portuguese club Nacional and the Egyptian national team. He has competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2013 African U-20 Championship.[1] The 19-year-old is one of the hottest properties in African football after impressing all onlookers with his displays at the 2013 African U-20 championship in Algeria. The midfield starlet won The Player of the Tournament where the Egyptians won it's trophy. He is the elder brother of Abdallah Gomaa the Egyptian footballer.

Club career

Saleh Gomaa, often touted as the ‘Egyptian Andres Iniesta’, has played for the Egypt national team and was the youngest player in the squad when he represented Egypt at the 2012 London Olympics. In just a matter of one year, Gomaa has represented Egypt for the U20, U23, and the first team squad.[2] Gomaa appeared competitively for the first time in 2011 when he was promoted ENPPI’s first team.

Gomaa received numerous offers from clubs in Europe, including Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Anderlecht

International career

Gomaa was a member of the Egypt national under-20 football team that won the 2013 African U-20 Championship in Algeria. He scored two goals in the competition, including a penalty in the final against Ghana. He was selected as the best player of the tournament.[3]

Gomaa was a key player for the Egyptian team at the CAF U23 Championship in Morocco.[4]
