Saint Mary athletic teams are known as the Spires. They are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).

Saint Mary began its football program in 2000 under Kevin Haslam and the current coach is Lance Hinson. As of conclusion of the 2007 season, the school has an all-time record of 22 wins, 53 losses, and 0 ties.[1]
