Collected by | Spending £10 in Superstores, or £5 in Local stores |
For every £10 spent, 1 voucher is issued. However in 'Sainsburys Local' stores, the earn rate is higher - 1 voucher per £5 spent. Consumers can 'buy' vouchers, which are electronically credited to a chosen organization, using their Nectar points. 500 Nectar points (otherwise worth £2.50 off groceries), buys 50 Active Kids vouchers, therefore the vouchers are effectively 'sold' for 5p each.[1]
Items in the catalogue for 2012 range from 9 vouchers for a wire cooling rack (for cookery lessons), up to an 'Activvault' gynmastics vault costing 26,665 vouchers. Prices for the equipment on the open market compared with the Active Kids vouchers cost suggests that, for most items, each voucher is worth around 1 and 2p, however a few items give a value of around 5p.
The scheme is run annually, with past and current dates for collection including:
- 18 February 2008 – 4 June 2008
- 11 February 2009 - 3 June 2009
- 17 February 2010 - 8 June 2010
- 12 February 2011 – 31 May 2011
- 15 February 2012 - 10 April 2012
- 30 January 2013 – 22 May 2013
- 29 January 2014 - 20 May 2014
Vouchers have an expiry date usually around two months after the end of the collection period. If not redeemed before expiry, the vouchers are worthless. However, once redeemed, balances can be banked for future years if the school does not wish to use it immediately.
