Sadiya Siddiqui is an Indian actress working in films, television and theatre plays. Throughout her career, Sadiya has portrayed a variety of roles that includes playing an innocent sister to Shah Rukh Khan in Kundan Shah's film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in 1993 and a prostitute in Fareeda Mehta's 2002 film Kali Salwaar.

Career

Sadiya Siddiqui began her acting career at a very young age in the early 90's with the T.V. serial Humrahi.She played a young girl who got married before she could turn into an adult. Sadiya was invited to the prestigious Emmy Awards while she was acting in Humrahi. The committee had been looking at social dramas from around the world, and they selected Humrahi from India, and from Humrahi they selected Sadiya.

In 1993 she played the role of Shahrukh Khan's sister in Kundan Shah's Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. In the year 1997 she got a lead role in Vipin Handa's Uff! Yeh Mohabbat but the film didn't do well at the box office. Since then she did mainly small character roles in movies as lead roles didn't come her way but her enormous potential as an actress was clearly visible in every performance of hers.

In 2002 she played a lead role in Fareeda Mehta's Kali Salwaar in which Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon and Vrajesh Hirjee co-starred with her. This film was based on the short story by Saadat Hasan Manto. In this film she played Sultana, a small town prostitute who migrates to the metropolis with her pimp but her business collapses and all she is left with is her state of despair and loneliness.

In 2007 she did a music video titled Hold it in My Heart for the pop band State of Bengal. In this music video she played an Indian woman whose husband has gone to work as a cook in Iraq and dies due to the violence there. She is currently seen in a pivotal role in Colors TV's Rangrasiya.
