Sabrina Kay
Dr. Sabrina Kay is an entrepreneur who has been involved in education, fashion, leadership, and business. Featured in the LA Times[1] and Fortune Magazine,[2] among other publications,[3] she is also involved with various charitable causes.
Background
She pursued undergraduate studies in industrial design at the California State University in Long Beach. She holds an a doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she was a member of the inaugural class of Penn’s Executive Program in Work-Based Learning Leadership, a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California. She has been a member of YPO (Young Presidents' Organization) since 2000.
Business ventures
She is currently founder, Chairman, and CEO of Fremont College.[4] Today, Fremont College provides Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Arts, Associate of Science degrees in the business and paralegal programs and diplomas in wellness fields. She also founded California Design College (CDC), now The Art Institute of California – Hollywood, as the nation’s first institution teaching computer fashion design programs. Other ventures she founded include Premier Business Bank, Fremont Private Investments, Fashion Umbrella, and LAdesigns.[5]
Philanthropy
Dr. Kay is highly involved in a variety of philanthropic, civic, and charitable organizations. She founded the Sabrina Kay Charitable Foundation in 2002 and has been serving as Chairman of After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles [6] , a youth organization founded by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She is also Chairman of CCA-PAC and serves on the Board of Directors for the Career College Association, the Getty House Foundation, and the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission. Previously, she served as a board member of Imagine America Foundation, LA Inc., Weingart Center, and California Fashion Association.
Civic Involvements
She served as a Los Angeles City Planning Commissioner,[7] Director of the California Scholarshare Investment Board, accreditation evaluator for ACICS, and evaluator for BPPVE (Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education). She was the President of CAPPS (California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools) and ICEPAC (Independent Coalition of Private Educators’ Political Action Committee) and board members of the Board of Governors of USC Alumni Association, USC Korean American Studies Program, KAC (Korean American Coalition), ACDPUK (Advisory Council on Democratic & Peaceful Unification of Korea), and KACCLA (Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles).
