SCS Software is a Czech video game development company. It primarily produces simulation games for the PC, Mac and Linux[2] platforms, including the 18 Wheels of Steel and Euro Truck Simulator series. Other titles include Bus Driver, Scania Truck Driving Simulator as well as the Hunting Unlimited series. SCS Software has also published several screensavers.
Truck simulation games
Euro Truck Simulator series
The Euro Truck Simulator series includes both the original Euro Truck Simulator, published in 2008, and its sequel Euro Truck Simulator 2, which was released in 2012. Both games focus on truck driving in European countries, such as the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
SCS Software has announced it will provide several map DLCs for Euro Truck Simulator 2,[3] the first to be released will include Polish cites. SCS has explained this decision, stating that the "Polish fan community is one of the most active and most supportive".[3] Furthermore, SCS has promised that they will provide further updates and new content for the base game.[4]
The series also includes two games based on smaller maps, namely the UK Truck Simulator (2010) and the German Truck Simulator (2011), as well as the Scania Truck Driving Simulator (2012).[5] The German Truck Simulator also received an Expansion pack, which includes the Austrian cities of Innsbruck, Salzburg, Linz, and Wien, called Austrian Truck Simulator. These games are modified versions of the original Euro Truck Simulator.
18 Wheels of Steel series
The 18 Wheels of Steel series is based on truck driving in North America. The countries included in the game are the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The series includes the following titles:
It is likely that the next game in the series will be American Truck Simulator, since SCS has announced that they have purchased the domain americantrucksimulator.com[6] and have published 3D models of trucks likely to be included in this title[7] on their blog. Pavel Sebor [CEO] says that the first map of the ATS will be in California which refers to Rig'n'Roll's map of California and Western Nevada. The first truck brands will be likely Peterbilt and Kenworth.
World of Trucks
In Mid 2013, SCS Software announced "World of Trucks" with its official motto: "One Trucking Game to Rule them All." The expected map will feature over 150 countries and more than 600 cities, more than 20 truck brands, more than 70 cargo types, and more than 50 fictional or real companies.[citation needed]
Bus and Coach Simulators
SCS has released a bus driving simulator, Bus Driver, in 2007.[5]
In late 2012, they announced the acquisition of the domain www.eurocoachsimulator.com,[6] which led to speculation about a possible sequel. Furthermore, SCS has recently published several images of new coach 3D models on their blog,[8] suggesting that a new title is in development.
