Ryoei Saito
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ryoei Saito (齊藤 了英 Saitō Ryōei, April 17, 1916 – March 30, 1996) was the honorary chairman of Daishowa Paper Manufacturing in Japan.
He was noted for his purchase of expensive art, including Portrait of Dr. Gachet. He threatened to burn these paintings when he was declared bankrupt and they have never been seen since so it is unclear whether this threat was carried out or he secretly sold them to pay off debt.
