Ryan D. Wilcox is an American politician who serves as a Representative in the Utah House of Representatives for District 7.[1]

Political career

Wilcox has held assignments in Commerce and Workforce Services Appropriation Subcommittee; House Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Committee; House Public Utilities and Technology Committee.[1] Wilcox sponsored HB 53, which modifies provisions related to licensing and the conduct associated with those engaged in foreclosure rescue or loan modification assistance.[2] Wilcox has also co-sponsored HB 357, which strengthens Second Amendment rights regardless of conceal-carry status.[3] Additionally, Wilcox worked with Ed Smart in co-sponsoring SB 277, which enables law enforcement officers to collect DNA samples of individuals charged with violent felonies upon arrest.[4] Representative Wilcox is currently Chair of the House Revenue and Taxation Committee[5] Representative Wilcox has supported the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty [6] working with the congressional delegation from Utah and traveling to Washington to lobby for the effort. [7]

Family and personal life

Wilcox was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and is a lifetime resident of Weber County. In 1999, Wilcox married Kristina Beckstrom, in the Latter-day Saint Bountiful Utah Temple. He is the father of four children.[8]

Wilcox graduated from Weber State University with a BA in Commercial Spanish and Political Science.[8] He has worked in agriculture, construction, real estate management and retail sales. For the past decade, Wilcox has worked for Sprint Nextel Corporation managing retail stores. Under his leadership, stores have won several awards for sales performance and operational excellence.[8]
