Cooley was attending college and wanted J.T. to end with a bang. They decided to kill him off. At Liberty's birthday party there were two Lakehurst students urinating on his car. After J.T. confronted them, he stated, "You people slay me with your humor" before one of them stabbed him and he died. Eventually Lakehurst merges with Degrassi after Lakehurst burns down and almost everybody is unhappy that Lakehurst is there despite J.T.'s killer being in jail.
