Rushaway Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rushaway Stakes is a race for thoroughbred horses held in late March at Turfway Park. The race is open to three-year-olds willing to race one mile on the dirt. An ungraded stakes event, it offers a purse of $100,000.
The Rushaway is named in honor of a black colt born in 1933. Rushaway made 107 starts. The very day he won the Illinois Derby in 1936, he was immediately vanned to Kentucky to start in and win the Latonia Derby on the following day.
