The Rough Habit Plate is a Brisbane Racing Club Group 3 Australian Thoroughbred horse race for horses aged three years old with set weights, over a distance of 2,000 metres held at Doomben Racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland in May. [1]
Race history
It was named in honour of Rough Habit, a New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who won 11 Group One (G1) races on both sides of the Tasman Sea. The inaugural running of the race was in 1993 as the Rough Habit 3YO Handicap.[2]
The event is the first middle distance race for three year olds during the winter carnival and is a prep leadup race for the 2400 metre Group 1 Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm Racecourse in June.[1]
Jockey Damien Oliver has won this race on five occasions:[3] 1997, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008.
