In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the rot grub is a worm-like creature found in heaps of offal or dung.
Publication history
The rot grub first appeared in first edition in the original Monster Manual (1977).[1] The rot grub was further detailed in Dragon #122 (June 1987) in the article "The Ecology of the Rot Grub".
The rot grub appeared in the second edition in the Monstrous Compendium Volume Two (1989)[2] and reprinted in the Monstrous Manual (1993) under the "worm" entry.[3]
The rot grub and rot grub swarm appeared in third edition in Dungeonscape (2007).
The rot grub appeared in the fourth edition in Monster Manual 3 (2010).
Description
Rot grubs will viciously burrow into living flesh until they reach the heart and kill their host.
