Rosie and Jim (sometimes written as Rosie & Jim) was a British children's television programme produced by Ragdoll Productions and aired on CITV from 3 September 1990 to 11 December 2000. The programme continued, on and off, to be shown on CITV until 2004. The very first episode aired on the CITV channel on 16 January 2013 as part of the 30th Anniversary celebration of CITV.

Story

Rosie and Jim are two rag dolls that live on a narrow boat which is from Birmingham and is called the Ragdoll. There they sit with an accordion on their lap and only come alive when no one is looking, such as Neil, who steers the boat, sings songs and relaxes as the world passes by slowly. They learn to experience things by following Neil on his adventures and secretly joining in the same thing he does, but end up causing trouble. Still, they never seem to get in trouble, as no one ever seems to see them!

Characters

Rosie

Rosie is the female ragdoll. In their adventures she carries a bag that has her name written on it. She wears a yellow dress and has long black hair held up in a pony tale. She is often heard referring to the boat driver as "fizzgog".

Jim

Jim is the male ragdoll. In their adventures he can be seen carrying a note book in which he sometimes draws things that he has seen. He has short red hair and wears a brown jacket with a red scarf. He also refers to the boat driver as "fizzgog".

Duck

Duck sits on top of the ragdoll boat and can be heard quacking when there are no humans around so that both Rosie and Jim know that the coast is clear. During many episodes Rosie or Jim can be seen kissing the duck.

Series

'Rosie and Jim' had a generous run of ten years. Over the years, there had been three boat-owners who acted as hosts for the series. John Cunliffe, a writer, presented the original series whose episodes featured cartoon segments from 1990-92, he was then replaced by Pat Hutchins, an illustrater from 1994-96 and the final series from 1997-2000 were with Neil Brewer, a musician.

Narrowboat

Rosie and Jim's home was the Ragdoll, a beautiful canal boat. Following the boat's redundancy from Ragdoll Productions, it is no longer on display to the public.
