Rosemount Middle School (RMS) is a middle school in Rosemount, Minnesota, USA. Rosemount Middle is a Blue Ribbon School that is managed by the Independent School District 196.

Academic standards

During the 1999-00 school year, Rosemount Middle was recognized with the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education,[1][2][3] the highest award an American school can receive.[4][5] The school is not a Title 1 school and in 2007 failed meeting Adequate Yearly Progress due to special education students not being proficient in math or reading.[6] In the 2010-2011 school year, the RMS test scores dropped to below meeting the standards.[citation needed]

Facilities

Part of the school building dates back to 1918 and a decision was taken in 1998 to preserve this when the school was upgraded.[7] In 1992 a rooftop fire broke out that caused $10,000 to $20,000 worth of damage during construction of a new addition on the school.[8] The addition added classroom space for 300 students.[9]

Fund-raising

The students are known for their fund-raising efforts for charity, raising over $7,000 in 2005 for example.[10]
