Rosa López, (born 14 January 1981, Láchar, Granada, Spain), is a Spanish singer. She came to fame in 2001 as part of the Spanish reality show Operación Triunfo, (that she won) she represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002.[1][2] She has subsequently released five studio albums, an album on DVD and ten singles.
She has been awarded several times throughout her musical career. These include Cadena Dial 2003 for the "best artists of the year" and Antena de Oro 2006.
Background
Rosa Maria Lopez Cortés was born in Peñuelas, Láchar (Granada) on 14 January 1981 to Eduardo Lopez and Francisca Cortés. She was raised in the town of Peñuelas with her parents and her three brothers.
Rosa started singing at weddings, baptisms, communions and celebrations for the people of Granada home over the weekend with her younger brother at the piano and her father. She was a member of several orchestras, and later created the Trio Roxa.
In September Rosa went to the casting of a new Reality show on 22 October 2001 at age 20 was one of the 16 contestants of the first edition of Operación Triunfo. The prize of the competition was to become the Spanish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002. Soon titled "The Rose of Spain", she won the competition on 11 February 2002 with 26.6% of the votes, beating with a record audience of 10,680,000 viewers and 58.8% share.
From 4 April to 1 June 2002, 16 participants from OT offered a tour in Spain, toured 27 cities in Spain with 600,000 tickets sold, followed two days filling the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona and the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. [ 13] TVE-1 issued on Sunday 2 June 2002 concert Bernabeu stadium, becoming the most watched broadcast concert in Spain, with 5,136,000 million viewers and 39.5% share. Musical career
2002-2005: Record beginning and The First successes
Once output as Operation Triunfo winner on 11 February 2002, then began her musical career by signing a 3 album record deal with Sony BMG Music, RCA Records and Vale Music. 2002: Eurovision Song Contest
In the last episode of "OT: Eurovision", the home audience decided that Rosa would represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Tallinn, Estonia on May 22, 2002.
Rosa sang the song Europe's Living a Celebration, accompanied by her friends and fellow OT:Eurovision contestants David Bisbal, David Bustamante, Chenoa, Gisela and Geno Machado and finished in 7th position with 81 points, despite being tipped to win by the Spanish media. 2006 and 2008: ¡Mira quién baila!
