Rory Kostjasyn (born 6 June 1987 in Sydney) is a professional Australian rugby league player who is currently contracted to the North Queensland Cowboys.

Having previously been contracted to the Sydney Roosters and the Newtown Jets,[1] Kostjasyn made his first-team debut for the Melbourne Storm against Harlequins RL at the Twickenham Stoop in the "World City Challenge", the Storm's warm-up match before the 2010 World Club Challenge.[2] He played again a week later against the Leeds Rhinos from the bench in the World Club Challenge.[3] </ref> He is of Russian and Irish descent.[4]

Training with the first grade squad over that summer earned Kostjasyn a spot in the club’s World Cup Challenge sqaud and a subsequent medal as part of the winning team. He was later signed by the club on a two-year-contract.

He then went on to make his National Rugby League debut in the 2010 NRL season. Kostjasyn went on to play 7 games that season making his debut in Round 1 of that season, He scored his first try for the club in Round 14 of the 2010 season.

In 2011 Kostjasyn was a more regular member of the Melbourne team playing 12 matches, starting in three of them. Rory is known for his versatility, he's able to play in the Halves at Hooker and in the Back-Row.

Currently Kostjasyn has played in 12 games in the 2012 NRL season deputising for injured Storm player Cooper Cronk in the Halves at times this season and starting in the back-row a number of times, he recently scored his second try of his career against the Parramatta Eels playing at Five-Eight - in a match where he ran for 100 metres in the first time of his career. He has currently played 31 games for the Storm.

In 26 July 2012, It was announced Kostjasyn had signed a two-year-deal with the North Queensland Cowboys for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, he said the move was made to seek a more regular first grade spot, the club signed him for his versatility value and as a possible replacement for club legend Aaron Payne who chooses to retire at seasons end.

in week one of the 2012 finals series against the South Sydney Rabbitohs,Kostjasyn made his first finals appearance. The match was a Semi final. Kostjasyn was given 26 minutes of game time - making 22 tackles and 50 metres from 5 hit-ups.

Kostjasyn was named 18th man for the Melbourne Storm's grand final match against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs in 2012, he was omitted before the match.

Since signing with the North Queensland Cowboys, Kostjasyn has been mainly playing the hooker position rotating with Ray Thompson. Although in the Round 14 matchup against the St. George Illawarra Dragons Kostjasyn played 20 minutes as a lock replacing Dallas Johnson.

In 2013, Kostjasyn was named in the 24-man squad to play for Ireland in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup
