Roger Jonathon Reinert (born July 22, 1970) is a Minnesota politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represents District 7, which includes St. Louis County. He is also an educator.[1]

Early life, education, and career

Reinert began his political career when he was appointed to the Duluth City Council on January 12, 2004, filling the seat vacated by Herb Bergson, who had been elected mayor. He went on to win a tight race for a regular term on the council in 2005. He served as council president in 2006 and 2008.

Minnesota House of Representatives

Reinert previously served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives representing District 7B.[2] He was a member of the House Taxes Committee, and also served on the Finance subcommittees for the Higher Education and Workforce Development Finance and Policy Division, the Public Safety Finance Division, and the Transportation Finance and Policy Division.[1]

Minnesota Senate

On November 2, 2010, Reinert was elected to represent District 7 in the Minnesota Senate.[3] Reinert was re-elected in 2012, defeating challenger Tyler Verry.[4]
