Roger Lennart Palmgren (born 11 March 1963) is a Swedish football manager, active primarily in Africa.

Career

Palmgren briefly managed Sierra Leone in 1996, and declared interest in the job again when it became available in 2002.[3]

He was manager of Swedish side Vasalunds IF from 2003 to 2004.[4] He was then appointed manager of Rwanda in August 2004,[5] before being sacked in November 2005.[6]

He also managed Nigerian club side Kwara United for the 2006-07 season.[7]

After coaching South African club side Thanda Royal Zulu, Palmgren was appointed Director of Sport of AmaZulu in December 2009.[8]

On 19 September 2011, Palmgren was named to succeed Manqoba Mngqithi as the head coach of AmaZulu.[9] He was sacked by AmaZulu on 26 November 2012 after a poor start to the season.[10]

He was appointed manager of the Namibian national team in May 2013.[11] He resigned from the position in June 2013 due to threats made against his family.[12]

In June 2013, he became an assistant coach at Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F.[13]
