Rockford Park is a historic public park located in a residential area of Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It is characterized by a large, grassy meadow slopes gently upward to a large knoll overlooking Brandywine Creek. Located in the park is Rockford Tower, a massive 75 foot stone structure which encloses a steel cylinder water tank; Canby Seat, a granite bench and memorial to botanist William M. Canby; the William P. Bancroft Memorial (1937); and a statue of Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont. The land for Rockford Park was donated to Wilmington by William P. Bancroft and developed by him in the philosophy of Frederick Law Olmstead.[2]
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.[1]
