Robert Ugbomeh Collins (born 6 January 1989 in Lagos[1]) is a Nigerian Professional footballer currently playing in France for SC Joinville

Early life

Collins attended Saka Tinubu Memorial High School Lagos in Nigeria but gave it up to pursue a professional football career.

Career

Ugbomeh began his career in his home country of Nigeria playing for (Pepsi football academy) where he spent 3 years before relocating with his family in Italy joining US Malo F.C. in January 2003. During his time at US Malo F.C. he attracted lots of interest from many Italian clubs. In 2004 he then attended Inter Milan football school of Mario Corso where he was voted and awarded best foreign player.[2] Collins has been linked with clubs like AJ Auxerre, ZTE FC, Sparta Prague, Le Havre AC. Then he was represented in Auxerre by ex Nigerian international Taribo West and in Sparta Prague by ex Danish player Mikkel Beck. In 2006 Le Havre AC made an offer to sign him.[3]

International career

Collins was invited to the Nigeria flying eagles in 2004 and 2008 preparing for the African youth nations cup in Benin Republic and in Rwanda respectively.[4]

Personal life

His elder brother Chucks Robert, is a Nigerian musician and a radio presenter popularly known as "Spaceman" he presently works for Cosmo FM enugu Nigeria, formerly presents a musical program (Zebra crossing) on Africa independent Television AIT.
