Robert G. Wilmers
Robert G. Wilmers (born 1935) is an American businessman.[1][2] He serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of M&T Bank.[1][2][3]
Biography
Early life
He graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy and received a BA from Harvard College.[1]
Career
He started his career at Bankers Trust.[1] He served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1993 to 1998.[1] He also served on the Board of Allied Irish Banks.[1] In 1998, he became the owner of the Château Haut-Bailly vineyard in France.[1]
He has served as Chairman and CEO of M&T Bank since 2006.[1][2] and its subsidiary, Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company (M&T Bank) since January 1, 2007.[1] He sits on the Boards of Directors of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, the Business Council of New York State and has served the City of Buffalo (NY) on its state-appointed control board.[1] He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.[1]
