Ripley is a town in Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 423 at the 2010 census, a decline of 9.2 percent from 444 at the 2000 census.[3]
Geography
Ripley is located at 36°01′03″N 96°54′14″W / 36.017531°N 96.903876°W.[4] According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), all land.
Demographics
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 444 people, 158 households, and 118 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,189.9 people per square mile (463.3/km2). There were 180 housing units at an average density of 482.4 per square mile (187.8/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 89.64% White, 0.00% African American, 4.95% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 5.41% from two or more races. 1.35% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 158 households out of which 40.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 15.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 23.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.21.
In the town the population was spread out with 32.9% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 88.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.3 males.
