Rijnmond

Rijnmond (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɛimont]) (literally Rhine Mouth, Mouth of the Rhine, Rhine Estuary) is the conurbation surrounding the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Another term used in this context is Stadsregio Rotterdam (literally Rotterdam Urban Region or more conventionally Greater Rotterdam Area). Located on the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta, the region has a combined population of 1,176,558 as of September 2013.[1]
The region consists of the following subregions:
- B-driehoek, municipality: Lansingerland (consisting of former municipalities: Bergschenhoek, Berkel en Rodenrijs and Bleiswijk)
- IJsselmonde (partially), municipalities: Albrandswaard, Barendrecht and Ridderkerk
- Oost, municipalities: Capelle aan den IJssel and Krimpen aan den IJssel
- Rotterdam (municipality)
- Voorne-Putten, municipalities: Bernisse, Brielle, Hellevoetsluis, Spijkenisse and Westvoorne
- Waterweg-Noord, municipalities: Maassluis, Schiedam and Vlaardingen
