Richlands is a railway station in the suburb of Richlands on the Springfield line of the Queensland Rail Citytrain network. The rail extension to Richlands is the first step in the progressive construction of the Springfield line to Springfield.

The station multi-storey car park has 650 car parking spaces for vehicles.[2] According to local councillor David Morrison, these are filled as early as 8:30 AM.

Construction and opening

Construction started on the station on 1 July 2008 (2008-07-01) with a cost of $40 million.[3] The planning included about 650 car parks, a bus interchange, bicycle lockers and a drop-off area. The station is expected to be completed by 2011, alongside the first stage of the Springfield line.[4]

The station was due to open to the public on 23 January 2011 (2011-01-23) with no services due to scheduled maintenance works on the Ipswich line,[3] but due to the Queensland floods the opening was brought forward to 17 January 2011 (2011-01-17) in order to assist with the recovery efforts.[1]
